I've dropped you email so you can send me the pix and I'll post them for you.

Without pix and description I'll guess that what you probably have is a pre-Model 24 called the Model of 1950 ... they generally run $1500-$2000 in NIB condition but even in VG-Exec they run $800-$1500+

With the pix and s/n info. plus any other condition description you can give we can perhaps tighten the estimate up.

    UPDATE

I've received some pictures and s/n info. (S107xxx) so that dates the mfg. to between 1954 and 1955.

From the pictures the revolver appears to be in prime shape, and in the market here in Northern Ohio I'd venture $1,000-$1,200 perhaps a little more with the right buyer and their first hand examination of the piece.

Box s/n to the gun with tools and papers would add $50-$100 to the price of the gun, and a S&W factory letter ($30) would add to the value with or without the box, etc.

If this were a 4 inch or 5 1/2 inch the price/value would be significantly higher.

Your customer has a very nice revolver and unless there is a need to sell it I would suggest that they hold on to it. If the customer has asked for a value for insurance purposes I would not value it at less than $1,500.

Now hopefully some of the other S&W folks will throw in their views to help round things out.

Can't conduct any type of business on this forum, but if you gentlemen are interested in making an offer on this gun, I would be glad to relay the information to my customer. You can drop me an e-mail at: kerpers@hotmail.com
Otherwise, I will most likely be putting it up for auction on GunBroker.com in the next week or so.
Thank you very much for the input!
