Palmetto 12-gauge shotgun

We have just inherited a Palmetto 12-gauge shotgun, and are wondering if anyone here knows anything about the brand. It was my grandfather's, and we estimate it to be over 100 years old. We have never heard of the brand, so it must not be around anymore. We live in South Carolina, and think it may have been a local company.
