Marlin model 39????
I have a model 39.. My grampa gave it to me before he passed away. He said he bought it when he was ten years old... 1922?? I am not sure of the year. How could i find out how old it is, and how much it is worth? Well any help would be awsome! Thank you

Did you try to contact Marlin Firearms about this ?
Serial numbers and photos are a big help on here, but.
The 39 was made in 1922 to 1938 in a octagon barrel
with a color casehardened receiver and lever, blue barrel.
Round blue barrels came in around 1939
Blue receivers came in around 1946.....
A very sweet old rifle still..............
The average price on the older ones @ 60% is around $800.00
80% would go to $1,325.00.

I don't have the rifle with me in CO. So where do I tell my mom to look for the serial number? The rifle is definetly a 1922 to 1938 year. It is in beautiful condition... only fired a few times. It is georgeous! Very well maintained..

The serial number is on the lower tang, underneath the lever.
Be sure and explain to her how to make sure it's unloaded.
If the hammer is pulled back a little and the lever is dropped slightly the number is visible.0 -
I was able to find the serial number it is HS 1947. If you could tell me where to go from here to find out its age i would be very happy. 0 -
The serial number prefix "HS" which stands for high speed first appeared on Marlin rifles in 1932........
