Kahr Arms bought the Auto-Ordnance name and manufacturing rights in 1999. After that date all the Auto-Ordnance products, ( Thompsons & 1911's) have either been made for, or by Kahr.

Not sure who had control over Auto-Ordinance years ago, but for a long time before 1999 (1987? TO 1999), Gun Parts Corp. (old Numrich), owned and operated Auto-Ord. Sometimes the quality was considered iffy, depending on when, what and how lucky you were. Kahr bought out Auto Ord. and immediately set about straightening out the quality issues.
I myself have a Gun parts (West Hurley, NY) 1911 which seems reliable and accurate, but some here have posted they had soft receiver, ect.
No, they were not a Kimber or Springfield, but at least mine seemed to be as capable as the Colt 80 that I once owned for a lot less dollars. I do not know what the issues were with the 1927 rifles.
