Go to savagearms.com and click on "centerfire" at the top and look at the 12 series. I just made a post asking for feedback on them.

Yeah. I forgot about those. I was hooked on the 26" hvy bbl. I don't think I've heard anybody bad mouth any of the Savage rifles.

    Can't go wrong, I have a Savage 112 J in 25-06 with the 26" Heavy tube
and its a real shooter. Could bet money the 22-250 would be equal or better as far as accuracy goes.

Rifle. I can not find this rifle info. Looking for information
on this rifle. Appreciate any help. ramsr

Although the previous posters are correct in regard to the various bolt action rifles that Savage sold chambered for the 22-250, they also made and sold very small numbers of the lever action Model 99 in that caliber. Perhaps that is the rifle your friend is telling you about?

My savage in .204 is a real shooter. Cant go wrong with them. The accu-trigger is really nice too.
