opinions on SW 6906
Looking for opinions on the SW 6906. How does it shoot? How does it feel you your hand? Pros? Cons?

For a 9mm they are pretty nice. I have a 669 which was version made prior to the 6906. They are very accurate for compact guns. A lot of law enforcement agencies issued them as duty guns in the late '80's/early '90's. Light, compact, corrosion resistant with good magazine capacity and several safety features.

GL, sorry I can't help a lot about the 6906 specifically. But for our SO, I carried a 5906 for a couple years and it was a good firearm. Really can't remember any problems or jambs. It was a comfortable weapon, easy to use and maintain. I wouldn't think the 6906 would be much different.

Happy day for me when I sold my 5906. Most inaccurate pistol I ever owned. New owner couldn't wait to get it and I warned him about accuracy. His smile went away quickly. 0 -
5906 will be easier to find and less expensive. The 6906 is the compact version-12 round mags that are a lot more scarce.
select-fire; what was the accuracy problem with you Smith? My 1006 is one of the best tack-drivers I own. Not quite the one-holer my Kimber 10mm is, but exceptional for a DA combat auto.

i've had one for over 12 years now. it is a very good shooting gun WHEN USING good ammo. mine will not shoot cheaper ammo very accurately, but the good stuff shoots very accurate. The cheap stuff is fair for plinking and i haven't had any function problems with it or any other ammo. It carries nicely and is nothing to maintain. i have medium size hands and i have no problems whatsoever. i actually bought it for my wife. she is very small, but handles the gun with ease. She really likes the decocking lever and safety, as do I. i have several good quality high cap mags that all function well.

I've carried three 6906's on the job over the past 12 years and have had good luck with them. Very reliable, no malfunction problems with any type of ammo. 0 -
I have shot a couple examples of the 6906 and thought they were decent Semi-Autos. I have owned a 669 for over 17 years. It has never jammed, FTF or any bobble in excess of 5000 rounds of everything from crappy reloads to Win. ISP +p+ loads.
Decent combat accuracy, decent size....I would suggest that you shoot one before you buy one. What feels good in my hands may not work for you...

I've carried a S&W 469 as both my off-duty and backup handgun for many years. This is the carbon steel slide/anodized aluminum frame version of the 6906 with just a few minor differences. The reason I haven't upgraded to a newer design is this little pistol will consistently nail a silhoutte target at 100 yds. and has experienced zero jams after ~8000 rds.
As for comparing full size S&W's to their little brothers, I've owned and used both. It's been my experience that their "mini-guns" will outshoot their full size pistols everytime. They're the same basic design, but somehow function better.
IMHO, these types are some of the best buys out there on hi-cap 9mm's.0 -
