Remington Rand .45 1911 A1
I have a couple of questions about this pistol. First is if anyone can give me some information on the holster as I am not familiar with this style and whether or not it is a G.I. type or an aftermarket piece.
Next, I would like to get some opinions as to the estimated value of this pistol. As you can see from the photos, it is in excellent condition and appears to have been used very little. Aside from the typical scratch-mark under the slide release and some very minor handling marks it is just about flawless.
I have given it a thorough inspection and done some research and from what I gather it is 100% original, correct and complete.

Also, if anyone can give me some info on the original shipping destination, etc. I would appreciate it. My own research tells me that the serial number gives it a 1943 DOM but it would be interesting to know the details of the original shipment.
The story I got about the history is that the pistol was a WWII G.I. "Bring-Back" and that it was rarely, if ever, used. Judging from my in-person look at it I am inclined to believe that story. Just my WAG is that it was issued and the soldier just bagged it and used his M1 or whatever in favor of a sidearm and just brought it home and stored it for the most part over the last 50 years. It seems to have very little use or even handling.
If anyone can offer any insight or comments I would appreciate it.

Sorry, but it appears to me that your pistol has mixed parts & has been refinished. The serial # on this particular gun was applied after finishing, so it should show burnishing under magnification if it is the original finish; my bet is that you will see the depressions of the numbers are completely filled with parkerizing, indicating it was reparked. The hammer is a Colt. A RR in that range should have a grooved MSH. And, it should have a type III slide, not a type II.
I would estimate it would sell in the $500-700 range.
