friend died, value help please
A friend passed away a month ago and we are trying to help her sell some of her husband's guns. The plan is too first offer them to his friends at reasonable prices and then advertise what ever is left over. I am not able to post pictures or probably give the best discription, but here goes:
#1 Smith & Wesson Model 48-4, .22 mag., SN 243K522, 6" barrel, pachmayer stocks, in very good overall condition, probably 90-95% bluing left.
#2 Smith & Wesson Model 48-4, .22 mag., 90K8633, 6" barrell, NIB with papers and purchase invoice dated 8/24/91 for $275.00.
#3 Smith & Wesson Model 10 SN 96453, 38 S&W Special CTG, 4" barrel, original wood stocks, a duty gun, bluing has quite a bit of wear, no rust and bore is shiney
#4 Browning automatic .22 LR rifle, take down model(barrel unscrews), barrel marked Brownings Arms Company Morgan, and Morgan, Utah and Montreal, P.Q.,Made in Japan. There is an older Weaver 4X scope mounted on the rifle. The stock has a few dings and the blueing is pretty good but shows a little wear near the muzzle. I can't find the SN.
#5 Remington model 760 Gamemaster chambered in .223 Rem., the rifle is in good overall condition, some wear on the receiver, no rust and the wood is in good condition with a ding here and there. It has a scope mount on it but no scope.
I know more information would help more but a range of values will help a lot. Thanks for helping us out.

The only one I could comment on would be #5. Very few were made in this caliber over a short period of time. If it's in factory original, V.G. condition or better it wold be worth good money. Don't let anybody talk you out of it.

If you could post photos of each firearm showing any wear or defects I am sure some members would assist you in setting ballpark values prior to your selling or auctioning these items. As mentioned earlier, the 223 is of great interest to collectors. Do not rush into disposing of these firearms until you obtain some accurate values. You might want to approach a dealer in your area who does appraisals for insurance purposes and get replacement values in writing. 0 -
According to the Blue Book of Gun Values a publication you could pick at most gun shops here are some rough estimations.
The model 48 K-22 masterpieces from bad to good condition.
60% $150.00 80% $175.00 100% $275.00 you can add $15-$20 dollars more if the gun has a wide hammer and trigger (target style).
The model 10 M&P 60% $100.00 70% 115.00 you can add $15.00 for nickel finish
The Browning 22 (BA22) still built sells new for about $400.00. Used value starts 60%$140.00 80% %160.00 100% $315.00.
The Remington 760 in 223 is a gun you will have to spend some time on.
The values are kinda regional. Not the most rare of the 760's(the .244 is) this gun will actually be the most exspensive of the group.
Anywhere from 60% %575.00 80% $700.00 and up.
Again these are guesses, you need someone to look at each piece to determine the % of wear and tear.0 -
make it simple and fair to her and her friends..put them all on auction with an above average reserve and see what the market is; then offer them to her friends at a slightly discounted price and then relist the leftovers at no/or a reasonable reserve ( or, look up the history of each on the completed auctions histories) 0 -
With #1 and #2 are the barrels pinned and chambers recessed? This might add to value for a S&W collector.
I forget what year S&W stopped the pinning and recessing.

THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE 22 BROWNING SHOULD BE ON THE BARREL IF NOT ON THE RECIEVER. LOOK UNDERNEATH BARREL BETWEEN FOREND AND MUZZLE .

As stated before. The 760 in 223 is very rare and valuable. This is not a 300-500 760. If in original condition and in excellent condition it will bring somewrer around $1000. Search completed auctions and check for yourself. Don't let anybody BS you on it. Remember the price is in the condition. 0
