Freedom Arms .44 Magnum
I was thinking of purchasing a FA in .44 Mag in the near future. I am still considering a 45 colt though instead. I know Freedom Arms revolvers are all very accurate. What I would like to know is which caliber would be more inheritely accurate.I was looking at using it for deer hunting with the longest possible shots being no father than 100yds.I know there is a alot more commercialy available ammunition for the 44 mag suitable for deer hunting than there is for a 45 colt. I would most likely be using commercial ammunition.I am mainly interested it the accuracy difference it there is any.[?]

If it's a choice between those two only I would go with the .44 mag,,Myself I'd go with the .357 or better yet Freedom Arms may make you one in .41 mag, not as many factory load options, but shoots a flatter trajectory than the .44 mag,, 0 -
If I had my choice, I would also go with the 44. If your going to spend the money on a FA, get a 454 Casull!! 0 -
Same as dano1 said, I think if your looking for accuracy you need to buy the 454.
Never let anyone kid you about how accurate a 454 Casull is, and you can load it down a little for plinking if you find the need. Both high and low velocity ammo is available commercially.
They are basically the same price, so why not get all you can get for the money spent......

Do you reload ?
The 45 Colt is a lower pressure round (about 1/2 a 44 mag). I would not consider using it for a hunting round, and I hunt with a pistol at times also. I don't have much 'hands on' experience with the Freedom Arms pistols. If the 45colt is built as the 44mag...and the piece will withstand the higher pressure, I guess you could reload a 45 Colt hotter (I'd not recommended it though). But if it were me, I would go with the 44 mag or 454. I lean toward 44mag because the ammo is more widely available. If you are in a sparsley populated area and need a box of hunting loads, 44 mag would be easiest to come by. If you DO reload, you can load some slightly milder loads for use at a range or 'plinking' with 44 or 454. And if you do not reload and go with a 44, you can shoot 44 special. As for accuracy, yes there are some accurate 454 Cassul, and 44 mag, and 41 mag, etc. etc.
For non-reloaders, there good reasons to go with 357mag/38spl and 44mag/44spl.
Which ever the weapon, check into some Pachmyer or other 'rubber grips', they are a good addition to big bore mags.

You said you would be using commercial ammo so my suggestion would definetly be the 454. You can always use the 45Colt for the practice ammo and it can be loaded up to esily exceed the 44Mag when you do reload. The pistol is strong enough to hold any loads you may want and is quality throughout.

45LC will do every thing the 44mag will do and them some,, and do it at lower pressure , factory ammo is out there even in heavy hunting loads or you can start loading your own
454 is over kill for what you are looking at and is alot higher cost0 -

ditto! I like mine. The Premier grade is worth the extra money, due to grips, sights, and lifetime warranty. The Pachmyer grips on the Field grade just do not feel right in my hands. The finish luster on the Premier grade makes it easier to buff out dings/nicks/marring.
