SLIDE STOP IS COMMING OUT WHEN SHOOTING

I HAVE AN AMT 22MAG. AND I WAS SHOOTING IT TODAY AND LOOKED AT THE GUN AND THE SLIDE STOP WAS ALMOST HALF WAY OUT....I PUSHED IT BACK INTO PLACE AND SHOT A FEW MORE TIMES AND IT WAS COMMING OUT AGAIN...ANY QUICK FIXES OR TRICKS TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING..ITS SCARY TO LOOK DOWN AND SEE IT HANING OUT THINKING IM GOING TO GET HIT IN THE FOREHEAD WITH THE SLIDE IF IT CAME OUT.........THANKS......

    It sounds like someone unfamiliar with the proper disassembly procedure tried to pound out the slide stop when the disassembly notch wasn't properly lined up. The stop is retained by the pointed lug which rides along the inside of the slide as it cycles, and if the lug has been damaged it will no longer be retained. You need a new part, which fortunately is shown in the Numrich Gun Parts Catalog #25, page 34, part # M-24 for $18.55. 866-686-7424.

    Do not forget a bent slide stop will do the same thing.
