Dating Marlins
Does anybody have a site that will date Marlin serial numbers? I looked on the Marlin site and you have to mail them all the info that is on the gun and then wait for a response. This is also only for antique arms.
Thanks

yes, there is a site. I've got it bookmarked on my other computer and if nobody posts it before I get to it, I pass it along to you. It covers newer guns as well as antiques.

You can also contact the Cody Firearms Museum - http://www.bbhc.org/firearms/records.cfm for any of the older Marlins

Try this one.
www.oldguns.net
Scroll down the column on the left side to find "Manufacture Dates" and then click on "Marlin".
Some Marlins went by serial numbers and some had "date codes".It depends on the gun's age.

Try armscollector.com. They've got colt and winchester data as well as other stuff. For Marlins 1969-90 the date is the first two digits of the serial #. 0 -
Personally, I would rather date girls than Marlins![:0]
Sorry 357, I just couldn't let a straight line like that just lie there.[:I]0 -
I am not sure dating a baseball player or a fish would be a bright thing to do He Dog [:D]
