Outers foul out bore cleaner. Does it work?
I have a Mauser 2000 in .308 with a badly fouled bore. So far I have tried Sweets, Hoppe's Benchrest 9, Hoppe's 9, worn out two bronze brushes and a bale of patches and it's still fouled! I am thinking about an Outers Foul Out III. Do they work?

I recently purchased a M-70 .223 Carbine that had a badly fouled barrel but the rifle looked like new. I tried everything known to get
it to group and get out the fouling. It kept throwing flyers and the barrel just would not come clean. I finally slugged the bore and the slug would fall through the back 6" of the barrel. Apparently it had been
shot A LOT, using surplus steel jacket ammo. What had appeared to be fouling was gall from the ammo. It now has a new barrel.

Get yourself WIPEOUT, its another bore foam type of deal.
First you have to scrub your gun to get all the powder fouling out first then use WIPEOUT. The key is WIPEOUT takes atleast 8 to 12 hours to work. Just fill up the bore and leave it over night. After that just run a few patches with Sweets or Butches Bore Shine through the bore and you should be good to go. You can leave the WIPEOUT in the bore for 24 hours. Everyone says a good 12 hours is needed to get the copper out good.0 -
Sir, I bought the second model of the Foulout because I have a small shop and thought it would save me time. I used it on 6 guns that ranged from slightly fouled to badly fouled. Used it on the bad ones first, for several times it really pulled the copper, then all the lights indicated it was clean. I plugged the barrel and filled it with Hoppes #9 (love that smell) and let it set overnight. Got blue-green tinted patches which told me the barrel still had copper in it. I then got out the JB compound, which is now sold by Brownells, and after several brushings with that the barrel came clean. All the barrels I tried the Foulout on would still show traces of blue on a patch after soaking all night with Hoppes. This indicates to me that the Foulout may remove the majority of fouling, but not all. I still use it on badly fouled barrels because it does save some scrubbing, but to get the barrel really clean I use Hoppes or Shooters Choice and soak over night, or resort to the JB Compound. It will not harm the barrel and helps polish the bore. Several of my prairie dog shooting customers use it to break in a new barrel. Use an old brass brush and wrap a patch with JB around it and start scrubbing. Somewhere around 80 to 100 passes and you can tell the difference in the way the brush and patch move down the barrel, they swear by it. I have tried about all the bore cleaners on the market( have not tried the Wipeout yet) and still prefer the above mentioned products. Hope this info helps. 0 -
Another product that I use on the copper is Barnes CR-10. It is an amonia based copper solvent. I can not believe the patches that have come out a bore that I thought was clean. Hope this helps. 0 -
Best stuff I've found is the newer BORE FOAM, now availabe through Gunslick. There are other manufacturers as well. It works great on metal fouled barrels, and it's very easy to use. It looks like shaving cream, and you squirt it down barrel and wait 15 or more minutes, then run a patch down the barrel - it'll be blue until all the copper is gone. 0 -
I found out the hard way not to use bronze brushes and Sweets.The Sweets will slowly dissolve the brush and the patches will appear that the barrel still has copper fouling. 0 -
