Winchester Mod. 23, how much $?
I have a Winchester Model 23/20g side-by-side shotgun I'm thinking of selling but I have no idea at the price I should be asking. Any suggestions? I'm no gun expert, but it's in superb condition, with case and chokes. I've been told around $2,200, but again, Im not sure. I will answer any questions on the subject, but I can't even find any for sale anywhere. Any help appreciated!

Hello jmjones...
$2200 is about right if it is in 95% condition or better. The Model 23 is a real nice gun.

Good morning jmjones: Sounds like a sweet little gun! Well fixed choked 23's are going for the low to mid $2000 range. Now you have one of the rarer ones with choke tubes, (I am assuming factory choke tubes?) If you have a factory case, with the 5 original choke tubes, that's very good. If you have any of the factory paper work, such as the manual, hang tag, card board box it was shipped in, would be better. If the stock hasn't been cutt, (shortened)the next feature would be barrel length, if I recall correctly they were 25 1/2, 26, and 28 inches in the 20ga. Shorter barrels usually bring more money. Next is the grade, it could be the Md 23 XTR, Pigeon Grade, Pigeon Grade Lightweight, or the Md 23 Classic? Each grade has a specific price range. Assuming it's all original, (stock not cut) factory hard case, all the choke tubes, etc. it's value is closer to $3000. and if it's a Pigeon gun it could quickly rise to the mid $4000 range. Winchester Md. 23 Pigeon grade XTR 20ga side-by-side with 25 1/2 inch barrel and uncut stock with factory case and all five choke tubes and is better than 95% condition. (only missing pieces are factory paperwork and cardboard box)
Any other deciding factors or does that about nail it down?0 -
Go to www.dawsonsdoubles.com and see what he is selling them for. He has a variety on hand and they sell. 0 -
Good evening jmjones: Well I checked dawson doubles, he has a number of XTR Pigeons, but none with choke tubes and a 25 1/2 in barrels. Since you have all the choke tubes and case, I think you can find a buyer for it $2750-$3000 range, if you market it right, at GB here or one of the other auction sites or listing sites. The short barrels with the choke tubes is what makes this different and desireable! Regards Dave 0
