Annother transfer/shipping question - Sorry
I usually only buy modern guns and there's no question, but now I'm helping a friend dispose of some older pieces and have received confusing e-mails. The guns are listed on GB and are as follows:
Colt, SAA, s/n 118388; Colt, SAA, s/n 183000; Colt Lightning rifle, s/n 67599; Colt Lightning rifle, s/n 87378.
I believe these are all c&r elgible, but have been told they are antique and transfer doesn't need either an ffl or a c&r. Was also told no special shipping is required. They can be shipped by USPS, FedX, or UPS and shipped just like aunt Martha's vase.
I do want to be sure to comply with the rules and regulations. I don't want to go to jail for helping a friend dispose of an estate.

I believe those were all made in 1898 or earlier and thus are not subject to the provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968. No background check is required to purchase, etc. The handguns would be still subject to the prohibitions of mailing via USPS and to the shipping qualifications of commecial carriers. State laws would also come into play at the receiving end. 0
