1911 rifle cal. conversion?

Does anyone remember the conversion uppers for colt 1911's that converted them to single-shots. It was a replacement piece that was put on in place of the stock slide and barrel. I'm not sure that they are even being manufactured any more. I think Pachmayr used to make them, also someone else, but I don't remember who. Anything anyone can remember would be appreciated.

  I had one years back in 223 made by Springfield. This dates to approximately 1996-97? It was called the SASS. To the best of my knowledge they don't make them any more. With the 15" barrel it came with, it was clumsy and unwieldy. No way you could compare it to a Contender.
