Remington 78 SPORTSMAN ?

I traded for this rifle in a .270 caliber, it looks good and the action is real smooth.What years was this gun produced and how much is it worth?I can not find a plain 78 Sportsman on gunbroker.

  Will a model 700 stock fit the model 78?The 78 loads through the top and I want to put a synthetic stock on it any suggestions?

  Any stock made for the 700 adl should fit as long as it is the proper length (short-long) action.
