Desert Eagle Gas Port

I have a friend that has a Desert Eagle, the first model, in 44 magnum. The gas port is stopped up, and the pistol works as a fine single shot. If you try to blow air through the gas port nothing goes through. Anyone have any suggestions for cleaning this, or something to soak it in to remove the buildup?? Bore cleaner has been tried, but still is stopped up.

  I havent tried it but how about penetrating oil followed by gun scrub. i figure if it frees up rusted nuts and bolts it might work .
