To the best of my knowledge it's a well made Czech .25 Auto. If it's marked CZ or "Z" it was made after the Communists took control of Czechoslovakia in the late 40's. There should be a proof mark on the frame with a two diget date to give you some idea of it's age.

It was produced commercially as early as the mid 20's and production continued through the Nazi occupation of the 30's & 40's.

CZ made some of the best 25 auto's , I dont know much about the Duo but the CZ 1945 was a true double action only, no safety just pull the trigger , 8 shot magazine , extra well made ,extra strong, never had a jam , ever! shoots to point of aim , it was the pistol that Mr Seacamp copied for his famous little pistol, so I'm guessing that the Duo if made by the same CZ its got to be a quality pistol

It's a Czech clone of the Baby Browning (.25 Caliber Automatic Pistol) in 25 ACP (6.35 mm). The DUO was manufactured in the 20's to the 40's. After the war it was dubbed the Model Z and was produced in the 50's through the late 60's, I believe. I couldn't get any information or parts out of CZ-USA, but you can find the Browning manual @ Browning's website and you can also get the Colt version (Pocket Model, Hammerless) at Colt's website. The Colt version adds a 1911-like grip safety but is otherwise the same. I am not implying in any way that the parts of these pistols are interchangable.

Here's one of the more informative "sources" I've found on this little pistol. There doesn't seem to be lot out there, so please post your findings.

Also a link to the CZ Small Caliber Pistol forum (you'd think this would have EVERYTHING). Not a lot of traffic/chatter on the DUO/Z though.
