    What are the differences between the Winchestwer 670& 670A, if any?
    I asked this question about six months ago and got no response; I'm trying again.

    Hello J. Patrick Tatum...

    If you do not get answer this go around, I will look it up when I get back home (to my reference material) at the end of next week. I am currently on an extended business trip in Anaheim, CA (PRK).

    Hi, I don't know what the differences are but I have a 670A. It has a 22" barrel, matte finish on the receiver and has a blind magazine. The stock has pressed checkering and is finished to look like walnut. These were basically an economy model 70. Hope this helps.

    OK, from what I can find, the 670A was introduced in 1972 as a redesigned Model 670 (the 670 made its debut in 1966).

    The Model 670 was offered in three variations;
    (1) Sporting Rifle w/22-inch barrel chambered for the 225, 243, 270, 308 Win cartridges, or the 30-06 Springfield.
    (2) Magnum Rifle w/24-inch barrel chambered for either the 264 or 300 Win Mag, or the 7mm Rem Mag.
    (3) Carbine w/19-inch barrel chambered for either the 243 or 270 Win, and 30-06 Springfield.

    The Model 670A was only available in the Sporting Rifle variant w/22-inch barrel, and it was only available in 243 Win or 30-06 Springfield. The 670A also featured for the first time a cheekpiece stock. It also had the three-position Model 70 type safety, and a rear leaf sight with the white diamond. The 670A was discontinued in 1979. A total of 287,648 Model 670/670As were manufactured between 1966 - 1979.
