Browning Gun Safes

Anyone got one? Seen a few model lines at a store here and was wondering how the quality was etc. Long term goal is a Zanotti Armor, since my life is on the move a lot, but the price difference between the two is exponential.

    My Dad has a Browning Safe and it is really nice. I think he paid $1,400 for it and I have seen other safes like Fort Knox & Liberty for less money and similar features. I think the people at Browning think the name if worth several $100 more.... What out for some of the electronic locks on some cheaper safes. I was in Dicks Sporting goods last week looking at the American Security Safes. The electronic lock comes off like a smoke detector and had a phone line cable attached to it. We took another lock off of the safe next to it and the comination of the second safe opened the first one. Not real secure

    I have been looking seriously at Liberty Safes lot less $$$$ over Browning.

    I have two of them, both wide bodies, and my buddy has three of them, two wide bodies, and one smaller one. For the price you cannot beat the quality, bar none. The more you look, and ask questions, the more familiar you will become with them, and you will learn that it is a lot like buying a car, you pretty much can't go wrong, no matter what you decide to buy, the main factor is price.
    As far as I am concerned, it's silly to purchase a safe that has twenty security bolts thru the door, bottom line if a thief wants to get your guns, and has the knowledge to bust into a safe, he will get them no matter what safe you have.

    Does Browning pay for repair if you need it? How about if the safe needs to be shipped back to the factory for repair? Who pays for that?

    Cannon is the ONLY safe maker that pays for shipping, both to them and back to you, as part of their warranty.

    I bought a Cannon from a safe company that sells on fleabay. Here's a link to one they have for sale now. No, I don't work for them. I'm just very satisfied with their service.

    moreammoplz, all safes with electronic locks are shipped from the factory with the same combination. Instructions are inside on how to change it to one easy for you to remember.

    I have 2 Cannons. Both have the electronic touch pad and are fire rated. Easy to set the combo and use.

    have 2 of the browning safes and they are fine... i suspect cheaper ones and more expensive ones are fine also...find the cheapest safe that you find aesthetically appealing and you will likely be pleased and have some $ left over to put something inside it to boot !

    Thanks for the update on the electronic lock, but the locks had different combinations, I checked. The combo was based on the serial number.

    I've got a Browning ... and another one (Sunwelding `Cavalry' model, that was manufactured up in Los Angeles - an excellent gun vault but not quite up to par with the Browning series.

    A couple words of advice ...

    Mine's a 'Gold' with an electronic lock. Buy the biggest you can afford (safe) - or can't afford. My next one's going to be a 'Platinum.' Also get the electronic lock, too, for sure! You can program in the master combination and then five (I thik five's the number) more additional lessor combinations that can be accessed by family members or friends - their own personal combinations! Those additional combinations can be deleted by the master combination holder at any time - or be reinstated - whatever the situation demands.

    I really like mine a lot - the old mechanical dial lock's a pain to use and I'll never get another!

    Incidentally, the electronic lock uses a common 9 volt battery (lasts about two years) which you can remove if you are going to be away from your home for a while - it has a small internal devise that allows your combination to be kept when you return the battery to the lock! One more thing I like about the electronic lock, is that if you punch in the wrong combination three (I believe) times in a row it will not accept anymore attempts for ten or fifteen minutes. Pretty nice feature - anything to frustrate the bumbling `combination cracker!'.
