Freefloating or not?
I have a ruger 10/22t it has the heavy bbl and i am thinking of cleaning some wood out to make it a free floater as it currently is not. The only reason that to this point i have not done so is because it has been a good shooter. I would like to get a little more out of it before adding an after market bbl. What do you all think. I have heard some say to leave them alone and others stand fast in the "freefloating" is better.

free floating a 22lr heavy bbl? I would get one box of many types of ammo, find the best,buy the whole case (same lot #).Accuracy of the gun is only as good as the shooter though.90% shooter 10% gun. My 2 cents

Chances are that a .22 heavy barrel is not going to suffer from harmonics or deflection from some contact with the wood, however I love to tinker and if you feel like free floating will help, do it, I probably would too. However that's not proof positive that it's the right thing to do. If you find that accuracy has not improved or gotten worse after you floated it then you can bed it. 0
