Hungarian Frommer Stop Question
I just purchased a vintage 1917 model 1912 Frommer Stop pistol in 7.65(.32). I has absolutely no finish left on it, I mean it is all gone! But the metal is still nice and smooth. I plan on restoring it amd would like to know how they blued them. I assume it was probably slat blued but not sure since the metal looks almost polished and not the satin etched look of a once salt blued pistol. I know alot of people are going to rag on me for restoring/rebluing it but it does not have the original mag or barrel so its collectors value is not much anyway.

Check the interior surfaces of the pistol that are not subject to handling or abrasion. If they still have traces of blue remaining, it's more then likely the parts were "dip" blued. If there is no finish "salt" blued.

I've got a Frommer Stop which was brought back from WW 2 and I don't think it was blued to begin with. It's sort of natural colored steel. It's an interesting gun, but don't trust it as your back up weapon. 0 -

No I dont know where an extractor can be found. But I do think it was blued at one time. I have seen a few pictures of teh Baby Frommer in 25 auto that had bluing on it. It must have had something since it was used as a military weapon to prevent corrosion. They didnt have stainless pistols in 1917. 0 -
i had mine completely / proffesionaly refinished in AUG. 2004...
i had the gun finished in a HIGH GRADE MAUSER STYLE PRESENTATION GLOSSY / ROYAL BLUE...
the BBL, RAIL, HAMMER BLOCK ASSEMBLY, and trigger were all polished to a bright stainless steel finish...
i obtained a haed rubber replacement grip set from NUMRICH ARMS...
i had a custom set of wood grips made for the gun from rosewood...
i have retained the original grips as well...
the gun was a perfectly functional but poor in appearance, so i decided to go all out and do it as a special / custom piece...
i have seen these guns parkerized, flat / matte blued, and painted black...
