Sig Sauer P-220 Question .....

I'm in the market for a duty holster for a Sig 220. I have noticed that some of the holstermakers state that it was designed for the 220 with certain serial numbers or it will say new or old style. I don't know which one I have. Can you guys tell me what the differences are?

    Believe the difference is in the magazine release. The original Browning imports and the early Sig Arms imports had European type "butt lever" mag release.

    The later models made specifically for the American market had a conventional "button release" on the left side back of the trigger, similar to the Colt 1911/1911A1 pistols.

    I have a Browning BDA and a Sig P220 both of which I carried at work before we switched to Glocks.

    They both fit in the same holster.

    It might have something to do with the new sigs having the Picatinny style rail for the add on lights, lasers etc... The frames look like they might be thicker in that area so the holsters might have to make room for the newer ones with the light rails.

    It is due to the rail...on the P220 Sport SIG used a rail to attach the front comp., but the rail was no good for attaching accessories. So the came out with the "new" style which is a picatanny rail for lights and the such.
    Forgot to add, that the "old" rail didnt protude as much as the new one so it should work in most standard holsters.

    True happiness is found at 120MPH.

    I went through the same thing when I got my duty rig. I belive its the size and shape of the trigger guard. I got a safariland, the first one I received just would not snap. Called Safriland and gave them the ser# and got the correct one. (Got the first one at a gun show). If you have an early Sig I'll give you the extra one I have if you pay shipping!

    I have the 220 with the mag release on the left side of the frame and has no rail. The serial starts at 188.....
