FRENCH RIFLE MAS 1936 question

i came across the following phrase during research on this gun...

"...one unusual and somewhat valuable feature of this weapon is that the magazine floorplate can be quickly removed and a detachable box magazine of varying capacities inserted."

does anyone currently sell one of the original or reproduction magazines???

has anyone ever seen one of these magazines???

does anyone have any information on this magazine, referance material that describes it, pictures, etc... ???

is this a true detachable mag set-up, or is it something along the lines of the AIR SERVICE `03A3, or the TRENCH WARFARE MAUSER RIFLE???

please help me out on this.

    I guess folks are waiting to be able to give you an "affirmative" answer, but, personally, I've never heard this; and old military rifles are one of my fortes. But--I won't say that it isn't so; and would like to read what you quoted, and follow up a little. I have a lot of references, but have never been specifically looking for this information and maybe it slipped past me. It does sound like something the Frenchies would do---an assault rifle on the cheap![:D]

    i know this is a bit of an obscure referance, but i have a high opinion of WHB SMITHs work...

    maybe someone here can try to place a MAS 49 SEMIAUTO magazine in the well of a MAS 36 with its floorplate removed???

    i hate to have loose threads not tied up in my files...

    i have an autographed 1st edition of JEAN HUON`s book...

    i think i am chasing an empty promise on this one. we have copied referances to the MAS 36 from at least 20 scources, and this is the only one that mentions the modification in question.

    i think that if we 3 relativly knowledgable folks cannot find the answer than i may be out of luck.

    Ditto to what Mr. Christian said, although my earliest "Small Arms" dates from 1962. It would seem unlikely that a 1945 reference would be suggesting using a M-1949 magazine in a M1936 rifle, since that model (49) hadn't come along yet. A 1945 reference would have had it's text origins during the war when France was occupied, so the reference was probably based on rumor and/or speculation. I don't think such an attachment exists.
