changing an SKS barrel

I have a nice Russian SKS. Unfortunately, Ihave messed up the barrel. I checked it and it appears to be screwed into the receiver(not pinned.) How hard is it to remove the barrel and install another? Anyone know who sells SKS barrels? Thanks.

    At some point the barrel is going to burn out and accuracy will suffer. Are barrels difficult to change on this rifle?

    Changing barrels on an SKS is a job for a gunsmith. But, exact replacement parts are not available for some makes. (You didn't tell us who made yours.) So, between parts & labor, you will spend more than the gun is worth.

    It's like buying a new car for $8,000; you use it until it stops working, & then you throw it away.

    Some have a smooth shaft with a friction fit into the receiver, secured by a cross pin. (Pinned) Some have a threaded shank that screw into the receiver. (Screwed) Which is yours? Academic, really, because Mr. Myers is correct; you'd be putting a $250 barrel job on a $125 rifle.

    LIKE D.G. ABOVE SAID MORE WORK THAN THE RIFLE IS WORTH. JUST FOR S.& G. I REBARRELED A YUGO SKS WITH A CHINESE BARREL (BOTH THREADED), HAD TO REDRILL THE GAS HOLE AND REALINE THE REAR SIGHT. THE RIFLE SHOT VERY WELL BUT I STILL HAD $270 WORTH OF WORK AND PARTS IN A $125 RIFLE.
