I enjoy shooting a variety of centerfire .22 calibers. I have a T/C contender 14" barrel in .223 and a savage model 110 in .223 and I use the same load in both guns and have had groups that measured about a quarter inch at 100yds from a bench. When I started reloading for this caliber I had an old timer look up from the newspaper he was reading and said "19.0 grains of IMR 4198...". I then loaded some cartridges using 55 grain Hornady V-Max and had excellent results the first time at the range! I have tried a variety of 50 and 55 grain bullets in both barrel lengths and have had excellent results so far. .223 is an easy caliber to reload for and I enjoy shooting it as much. Sorry I didn't have specific experience with the compact but, Ruger has made quality firearms that many people have enjoyed. Happy shooting and good luck.
