High Standard Sport King

I am trying to determine if a gun is C&R qualified by being 50 years old. It is a High Standard Sport King 2nd Model SK-100. The serial number is 4459XX.

Need a date of manufacture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    How do I remove barrel? Previous owner removed barrel before I purchased it but the barrel latch seems to be stuck now. While I was filling out the paper work a clerk was fooling around with the pistol, don't know if he had the barrel off or not. Maybe I have to do something before pushing latch under barrel, help please.

    According to 23rd edition of the "Blue Book", it was made 1954. Sooooo it looks as though you're in the clear for your C&R, now if you can just convince the seller to sell it to your C&R![;)]

    Thanks for your input. I kind of figured that the gun was 1954-55. Buying from an individual. So the C&R won't be an issue to this person, and I wanted to verify that it was the correct age before I logged it in my C&R book.

    you might run into a glitch on the point that it fires modern ammo froma modern magazine. yes its 50 years old, but it doesnt chamber antique ammo, it chambers modern ammo. thus, its not a curio and its not a relic. let us know what happens. all my 22's are high standards!

    You lost me!!!! Modern ammo has no bearing on the fact that the gun is 50 yrs. old and thus, qualifies under the BATFE guidelines for a C&R weapon. Unless you know something that I have never heard of. Please explain with your source of that info.

    it has something to do about it being a pistol and modern ammo. maybe someone can shed light on it.

    Hello Per letter to me from BATF dated Jan 5 /2005 "A LICENSED COLLECTOR is a collector of curio and relics only and is licensed and regulated under the provisions of 27 CFR Part 478 To be considered a curio or relic a firearm must meey ( ONE) of the following requirements
    # Have been manufactured at least 50 years ago or
    # Be certified a curio or relic etc
    # Derive a substantial amount of it's monetary value from the fact tat it is novel , rare , Bizarre ETC"

    1954 factory starting serial number was 440,000.
    1955 factory starting serial number was 480,000.
    it would appear your gun is early 1954.
