30-40 krag barrel change
Has anyone changed the barrel on a 30-40 Krag without purchasing the expensive barrel clamps and frame wrench that is specifically designed for a Krag?

I don't have the gift of sarcasm that Mike does, so all I will say is that the Krag action is very brittle and if not gripped with the proper wrench...even a small slip or mistake will result in a ruined receiver and those are NOT cheap or easily replaced. I saw a fellow drop a complete action on a concrete floor covered with indoor/outdoor carpet at a gunshow and it shattered like a bottle! 0 -
All sarcasm aside, the reason I asked is because I don't know of a gunsmith I would trust in this area. Thanks for the response, I think I will spend the money on the proper tools. 0
