Mossberg 500 Heat Shield?

I am thinking of installing a heat shield on my Mossberg 500 Persuader (just because I like the looks of it.) I'm curious as to whether or not this heat shield will rub the finish off of the barrel at the point where it sits. In other words, if I ever take it off, will there be wear and missing finish on the barrel? Thanks in advance for any replies, I appreciate it.

  I have had one on my 500 for over 10 years and over 1000 rounds. I havent taken the heat sheild off in a long time. There were a couple of small marks where the clap is on the BBL. Answer dont ever take it off.

  I have one on my 590 Marinecoate and I say the same thing, DON'T TAKE IT OFF.

  Don't know about the barrel (would think it will) but I knocked the front sight off putting the shield on. Should have used a smaller hammer.
