Musket: FFL ?

I've read the guidelines, but I just want to make sure I've got this correct. If I sell and ship a musket, circa 1770, I don't need to worry about anything having to do with an FFL, is that correct?

    You don't need a FFL for anything made before 1898 but you may need some paperwork in some states or cities. in the shipping within the U.S.A.

    The ffl rules don't apply. GCA of 1968 only applies to firearms made after 1898. Looks like you are safe by a margin of 100+ years.

    It does depend on the city, maybe the state. I know New York City (of course) does not allow Black Powder firearms transfers without an FFL.

    don't need one. it falls under curios and relics . . . i beleive that repros also fall under this cat. but i am not sure

    According to federal firearms law, state & local laws take precedence over federal law within the locality. So, in a few places, even antique firearms may be prohibited or restricted; you have to know the exact place where it is being shipped, & the law there.

    You can order and recieve, by mail, or other shipping without an FFL black powder replicas from Cabela's, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, etc., as long as your LOCAL laws allow it. This also includes private transactions!

    NJ, NY, HAWAII...
    and a whole lot of cities / municipalities do not recognize CURIO AND RELIC, PRE-1899, ANTIQUE, "so called NON-MODERN AMMO guns", etc...

    to make a blanket statement that this transaction does not require an FFL is irresponsible, dangerous, ignorant, and plain incorrect.

    think and learn before offering possibly erroneous advice that may land someone in trouble.

    in the above listed states AIRGUNS, MATCHLOCKS, MUZZLOADERS, etc... are all "guns" in the same class as a modern AK-74 or SAVAGE 110.

    if your unsure, dont answer.
