Compatibility of 30-30 caliber bullet
Other than the Winchester 30-30, Model 94 rifle, what other rifles are compatible for using the 30-30 caliber bullet? If there are many, can you estimate how many rifles, manufactured in 1982 and prior years could use this bullet? Can you list some of the manufacturers and models of those rifles made in 1982 and prior that could use the 30-30 caliber bullet?

The BULLET will work through any 30cal (308 diameter) rifle (it's terminal proformance is another issue).
The CARTRIDGE will work in any rifle CHAMBERED in 30-30Win or 30WCF (30WCF is the origional name for the 30-30Win). There is also a obsolete cartridge called the 30-30Rem (30Rem) which is NOT the same thing as the 30-30Win.
Other than the M-94 Winchester, the most common rifle chambered for the 30-30Win would be the model 336 Marlin, although many other companys have produced rifles (and a few handguns) chambered for this cartridge.
It's a terminaligy thing, the bullet is the projectle (what comes out the end of the barrel. A cartridge is the assembly of Primer, powder, case, and bullet. As a general rule, the cartridge must match the chamber inorder to be safely fired.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
Sll, the number of rifles which *could* use a .308 caliber (caliber = inch) projectile is easily measured in the xxx,xxx,xxx range. The .30 US (.30-40 Krag), .30-06, .30 Carbine & 7.62x51 cartridges in military firearms (and all their civilian counterparts) use(d) this diameter bullet. Then there are dozens of commercial calibers, many metric types, etc. The standard .30 WCF 150gr flat nose bullet may not perform terribly well in those other rifles / cartridge designs, but technically it is compatible. In the US, especially, the plurality of rifles produced in the history of fixed ammunition have this bore diameter.

Not sure if you are actually asking about the bullet(projectile)or the cartridge 30/30 itself. But besides the 94 Winchester and the Marlin lever action Savage made a Bolt action rifle ( I think it was a model 340?) and they made a pump action rifle too. I think at one time they made an over/under combo gun that was 30/30 on top and 12 guage underneath. H&R made a Topper or something like it that was also chambered in 30/30. The Savage Pump was the model 170 in 30/30 it also came in .35 Rem. which is the most accurate Sporting Rifle (that is under 100yds) I ever fired.Savage also made the 30/30 in a Mod. 99 Lever Action.

any gun you pick up that is marked on the barrel 30-30 or 30wcf. why ? your question dose not make sense. there have been thousands of guns made in that cal. by many different companies in the time frame your talking about. what is so special about 1982?

Hey guys you all forgot the T/C Contender that is also chambered in the 30/30
it is the best of them all for deer as far as factory chamberings are concerned.
Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.0
