Magazine spacer question

I am finishing my conversion of my MAS 36 from 7.5 to 7.62x39 and all that is left is to convert the internal magazine to the short action. I have all the materials but the material for the spacer to allow me to use the short follower and spring. Any of you guys that have done mauser actions may be able to help. What material is the best to use for teh spacer and where can you get it?

  White or black nylon is the usual material of choice because it's easy to work and shape with common tools. But aluminum, steel or even Plexiglas (acrylic) can work as well.
