Shipping question

Can I with a C&R licence ship a C&R Hand Gun to an other C&R licence holder in an other state? I got a no from the ATF office in Philadelphia and a yes from another agent several days later.

    Need a little help here.I sold a rifle that qualifies as a C&R relic. The buyer wants me to ship it to his work address since he is not usually home to sign for it. Question, can i ship to his work address even though the address on his license is different? I don't want to violate any rules.thanks in advance. Dave

    Thanks for the link! Any thoughts on who is the best to use? Also, will most FFL holders take care of the shipping for a fee?

    UPS & FEDEX both have their "tariff" (rules) on their websites. Both prohibit nonlicensees from shipping long guns they have sold, but you can declare them as "firearm for repair".

    USPS charges 2-3 times as much for insurance, so you should calculate the shipping charge before you list the gun. Convenience may also be a factor, as you can only ship UPS & FEDEX from a company customer counter, not a mailing store.

    In most cases, USPS will be the best way to ship. Just be sure that you have your shipping cartons handy, & cost calculated, before you list. Your listing for the guns should state how you will ship, how much it will cost, & the fact that the buyer will have to pay shipping (unless you plan to throw it in).

    all guns must be ship to a FFL holder !!!

    for a private person shipping , handguns have to be shipped by fedex or ups,longguns can be shiped thru the mail , only a FFL can use the mail to ship handguns and of course they can ship longguns by mail ..

    some dealers will not accept from a private person but the law says they can they just don't want too and since its their business they can set their own rules

    which ever way you ship make sure you do a very good job of packaging , because it will need it [:(] if you ship a long gun offer to buy a hardcase to ship in (at buyers expense ) much better chance that the gun will get there in good shape , most buyers will go for it as long as you only ask for the cost of the case ,, ie $10 maybe $12 because they end up with the case any ways ,, good luck and have fun [:D]

    I got a question. Even if you already own the gun, does the gun have to ship to an FFL dealer?

    Even if you already own the gun, another person can't send you a handgun. If it's a long gun and the sender lives in the same state and is not an FFL they can mail it to you as long as you are not a prohibited person. The key is that the shipping and receiver have to both live in the same state. That applies to longguns only, though.

    I think Tim is talking about transferring guns that owns to folks who buy them from him. Tim owns the guns. He can only transfer a gun to another resident of his state (state & local law permitting), or to an FFL in any state.

    If Tim owns a gun that he wants repaired or customized, he can only ship to someone with an FFL or manufacturers license. (All gunsmiths must have an FFL.)

    It Tim wants to ship a gun to himself at another location (say, for a hunting trip), he can do that without shipping to an FFL.
