Value and age Rem. 700.
Happy Sunday to all, Can you tell me the year/ date of manufacture of this Remington model 700 in .308 --seriel # 888433.It looks 90% metal and wood. Bought at a local pawn shop. $250.00 + tax. Thanks for your time/ imfo too. Steve

Rem started them in 1962, and I don't know how many years it took them to get to 800K. There was a shift in the safeties, following that idiot kid shooting his dad in the back, while the kid was crawling through a fence with the safety supposedly in the on position. the old safety locks the bolt, new ones lock only the sear. $250 sounds like a good deal to me. I feel for the guy that used to own it, that pawned it for something considerably less than the $250. 0 -
there is a letter code on the left side of the barrel where it meets the action...if you post the letters, can give you the age....to get a better idea on its value, need to know what configuration it is...a bdl carbine, a ss dm, an adl, etc,etc. 0 -
Your 700 was made towards the end of 1963.Either nov. or dec.The letter code on the barrel would tell us the exact month.It will either be an R or X.there were 1392 ADL and 462 BDL made in 1963 in 308 Win. 0
