What to buy?
Hi!
Well, let me start by saying I know very little about the wondeful world of gun ownership..
My 13 year old son will be hunting or I guess I should say (carrying a gun) for the first time this deer season in Eastern Oregon..
He is very shy about the kick of a larger caliber rifle.. But, I don't want to go too small.. I have had so amny suggestions.. 22-250, 270, 280 (110 grain bullet), 243 use a (100 grain bullet)...
HELP.... I have know idea what to get him...
For myself I currently have a Savage 270, but really would like to find a nice 308?? My ex-brother in-law has a very nice 308 that I really enjoy shooting and feel more confident with than my 270..
I would really apprectiate any ideas - thought - suggestions..
Thanks
Tommy

I'm looking for an O/U. I'm new to trap, skeet & sporting clays and can not afford the $1000.00 + price tags on the Beretta's, Browning's, Ruger's, ect. but I know nothing of the Mossberg Silver Reserve, the Remington Spartan SPR310 Sporting, the Khan Arthemis, the American Arms Silver II, the BSA Silver Eagle II. All with lesser price tags and similar features.
I recently purchased a Mossberg 500 12 GA. Ok for trap and skeet, but won't get me into doubles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.0 -

I have 4 Khan Arthemis shotguns. They're very well built. My only complaint is the feature that allows both barrels to discharge at once, because occasionally I end up bumping the switch without knowing it. If you're interested, outback1 sells 'em on the auction. Great guy to deal with. His prices are sometimes awful high though, so shop around. Best of luck.

Top shooters use the Browning, Kreighoff and other high end guns because they shoot better. Some things in life are worth the price. Save your nickles and get the Browning or other high end gun. Your scores will show the difference and you won't walk in the door feeling hadicaped before the first shot is fired. There is always a good deal on a used gun from an older shooter looking to reduce inventory, it may be a better buy than a new low class gun. 0 -
THE SPARTANS BY REMINGTON ARE GREAT GUN FOR THE PRICE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK ONE UP FOR AROUND $ 500.00 aLSO CHECK OUT STOEGER. THEY MAKE AN O/U CALLED THE CONDOR. THIS IS ALSO AGREAT GUN FOR THE PRICE (I OWN TWO). THE CONDOR GOES FROM $500.00 TO ABOUT 650.00 DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU LIKE.
HOPE THIS HELPED

stoeger priced right.
EAA too.
Have your dealer look into the Khan's, though, straight from Century Arms. They had a good review recently in Peterson's Hunting mag I think and are priced very well.

The difference in $500-650 and $1000 isn't that far when you consider the difference in quality. So, listen to bpost's advice....

EAA has some great products at great prices, also if CZ makes an O/U I wouldnt hesitate to purchase one.
