    If it had a SN# it would be located on the left side of the receiver. The following charts refer to barrel stamps on the gun. They are usually located at the 10 o'clock position just in front of the receiver. Keep in mind Remington only made this model from 1959-1987. They made 678,473 of them. As a collector of this rifle some advice, if you have any paperwork at all to go with it, it will fetch a higher price, i.e. hang-tags, original receipt, field manual, box, anything.

    Thanks, guys! According to MATWOR's chart this one was made in August of 1966. It really is amazing that this rifle is in the almost perfect shape it is considering it's age. Evidently, it was put away in an excellent, low humidity safe or cabinet for all these years. I have seen a lot of these rifles at gun shows over the years, and this one rates in the top 10% as far as condition goes.

    is this chart for all mobel Remingtons [?]. i see its easy to remember the months for ID.. "black powder x" . but the years are confusing 2 different dates w/ the same letter wondering ...?
