old belguim side/side 12

I have what I think is an old shot gun . it is a side /side 12 gage with a half horse half man shooting hand guns picture ingraved on each barrel below the ingraving is writen Le Centare. On top of the barrels in the middle is writen the liege united arms (belguim). if you could give me any info on this gun ie. make ,age , price that would be helpfull thanks chris.

    Possibly made by Fabrique D'Armes de Liege, a Belgium gun maker c. 1900 to 1919.

    Belgian sxs shotguns were imported in great numbers around this time. They have little collector value. Many have laminated or "twist steel" barrels that are not strong enough for todays smokeless powder cartridges. Any older shotgun lke this should be checked by a competent gunsmith before attempting to shoot it.

    I agree totally with bigtire. The brand "Le Centaure" is not exactly the same as "Manufacture Li?geoise d'Armes ? Feu" but the latter was
    one of the stockholders. Cheap shotguns and revolvers, quality compares the Suicide Specials. So do not commit suicide.
    In the late 1920's, Le Centaure also issued replicas of the Colt 1860 Army and other percussion guns based on the Colts Navy 1851 and Pocket 1849 patterns. The cylinder on those cheap copies is usually longer than the original ones, allowing for heavier charges, which means overpressure. Fire at own risks.
