gun buying question?

Yes, a corporation can buy & own guns. An officer of the corporation would have to take responsibility for the guns & be subjected to the background check. There are even a few folks who use this as a way to purchase Class III weapons that they would not be able to buy otherwise. ATF has detailed restrictions on the possession & disposition of such firearms.

This is not much different than if the owner of any business were to buy a gun & keep it in a location accessible by employees. Obviously there is one or more people responsible for the gun, & its use by an employee who is prohibited from possessing a gun could have severe consequences for the responsible person.

Wal-Mart has guns. They are a very large corporation. They probably need an FFL per location I would imagine.

Our gun shop is a corporation. You need three people I believe to form one. The license is under our Corporate name not the president, vice pres or secretary's name. We file S corporation taxes. We are incorporated so if we are involved in one of these frivilous gun lawsuits they can only sue the corp and not the individual. Hope this helps and there may be more to it that I dont know.

I may have been wrong, but I thought that Muss was referring to corporations that owned guns for their own use, not licensed dealers.

For instance, in my area there are several defense contractors who are required to maintain a certain level of security by the US government. They own pistols, shotguns, rifles, & some even have sub-machine guns; they are stored in an arms room, & are issued to trained security personnel for use on their premises.
