    Supposedly? 50,000 were made during W W II. I always questioned that figure. It seemed to me they would be a lot more common then they are, if it's correct.

    Basically a Official Police with dull unpolished finish and various shortcuts to expedite production. Primarily for use by various stateside security and paramilitary oganizations, i.e. rentacops.

    Seems to me you got a outstanding deal, I would be very happy.

    Yeah, that's pretty cheap. Your factory letter will run about $150. Log on to Colt, it's on their site.

    I'd say the cost of a factory letter would be a gamble. Especially being from the WWII era, I'd think Colt might only show date of manufacture and that it was shipped to whatever gov't agency handled distribution of firearms to defense contractor's security forces. Where it went from there would likely be tough to obtain.

    However, if you decide to get the factory info I'd be curious to hear what you learn.
