Old Stevens 22LR

I need some help. I might have a chance to buy and OLD Stevens single shot LR, but need to get some idea of what it might be worth.
I did not see any serial number on it in the short time I had to look at it, but it's a small gun with a small stock and a short barrel. It's single shot, and has a small but decorative lever for loading and cocking. The owner remembers going out with his grandfather in the '50's to shoot chipmunks. It's size makes it look like a toy, but it's stamped 22LR on the top of the barrel, and has the Stevens name and Patent info on the side, but I don't know if a patent number was on the side. Maybe just Patent Pending.

I only had a short look at it, and did not think it would be available.

I'm not as collector, but recognize an opportunity when it blocks my path.

Any info on this gun would be appreciated. I'm sure it's not rare, but the guns still out there arealready in someones cabinet.

    Unfortunately there's no way we can help you. Stevens made many different .22 rifles over the years they were in business. We have no way of knowing which one your describing.

    Do a Google search maybe you can find one on the net. Or perhaps in one of the on-line auctions. If you can give us the model number and describe it's physical condition, we could probably help you.

    Chances are it's a Favorite, Crackshot or Marksman. It may have a model no. such as 14 1/2. As Rufe said, a picture speaks volumes. As with anything, it's all in the condition. You might try www.gun-quest.com for pictures to compare.
