Help With Lee Enfield I.D. Please
I just received a #4 MK1 Enfield, in .303 British, and could use some help I.D.ing it please. I own a #1 MKIII, and they wrote all over the thing about where and when it was made. Not so this one. All I can find is :
On the receiver -
A letter that looks like an "R" or a poorly struck "B"

On the safety - a "B" and the Broad Arrow.
On the top of the band that holds the front sling swivel(about 13 1/2" behind the muzzle) the letters "CEW"
On the top of the metal protecter at the front of the upper handguard, 4 1/2" behind the muzzle, "D&M"
On the right(bolt handle)side of the flip-style non-micrometer rear sight, the letters "BM"
With the exception of a "10" on the bottom of the forestock, 6 1/2" behind the muzzle, a "U" behind the front sling swivel and a "Z" between the buttplate and the rear sling swivel, the stock is plain, and looks to be a newer replacement, judging from the condition of the rest of the rifle. I wish I could include photos, but that is beyond me right now. Thanks for your help.

My reference notes that the Brits started to identify their manufacturers by a code letter in 1940. "B" was the Birmingham Small Arms factory at Redditch.

It is a B and was made in England at the BSA factory I think it is Shirley 0 -
