Leupold Rifleman Scpes any good?

I have been looking for a lighter scopefor my deer rifle and recently came across the Rilfeman series of scope by Leupold. I am looking at the 2-7x33 model specifically. Does anyone have any experiance with these scopes? How do they hold up in regards to recoil, lense clearness, etc. Anyone?

    These scopes carry the same warranty as there VX series scopes so you shouldnt have any problems with them.

    Bill, I put one of those very scopes on my latest project, a 6.5X55mm model 98 mauser. It is very clear for the price( I paid $179.00 for mine). So far it has been all I could ask for. Its too early to tell how it will last and to be honest the 6.5x55mm is not a heavy recoil number. In short, I like mine.

    Cabelas has the model I want for 179.99$ Its going to go on top of my Savage .270. Right now I have a cheap Bushnell on it, so I am wondering if recoil would hurt the Leopold.

    I have no personal experience with that model, but the others I have are great. I do recommend using high quality rings and mounts. Leupold for example.

    They only thing I don't like about this line of scopes is that these in particular use a Weaver type base, which Leupold does'nt make for my gun, to the best of my knowledge. I would most likely end up buying a set of rings from Leupold, and finding a base from Weaver.

    In Cabela's you'll find a set of Warne rings that look really sturdy that mount to Weaver style bases. But if you buy a Rifleman scope from Leupold you can use any 1" rings and bases you like, Leupold, Burris and several others make very stable rings and bases that will suit you fine.
    And by the way Bill the Leupold Rifleman is a good scope if you get one you will be pleased.

    I would use Warne rings and bases. reasonable price and as sturdy as anything make by anybody anywhere.

    For the price difference I would go with a Burris Fullfield II. It is $199.00 and comes with a free spotting scope. I have one on my hunting rifle and it has been great! I used the cabelas Maxima bases and rings. They have been rock solid! Just my thoughts.

    Warne's steel bases are the best. 2d I go with Weaver's grand slam steel bases. Rings are another matter, I've been completely converted to Weaver's 4x4 aluminum rings. I've got a pair on every thing from 338 to 458winmag. The scopes don't slip because of the extra set of "edges" to help with the holding. Leupold is my pick for any light weight trim/compact scope. I've not had anything to do with the Rifleman scopes, but you can't beat Leupold's waranty.

    I've been looking at these and the VX-1s as well. The prices seem to be pretty much the same between these two scopes. It looks like the VX-1 has better coatings on the lenses.

    I am very pleased with the the other VX-1 I have (3-9 X 40) - so when I see the right price on another VX-1, that'll be what I'm buying.

    I have a VX-1 in the 2-7x33 and that thing is great, I would trade any of my fullfield II for a VXI any day. If your looking for a lightweight scope the VX-I is 6/10th's of an ounce lighter than the rifleman if that matters at all.
