Ammunition Differences

Do the various Manufacturers of 300 Mag Ammunition all manufacture their Ammunition to the same specifications ? Or are there significant differences which would limit which Manufacturers Ammunition could be used in a specific Manufacturer's 300 mag Rifle ?

    Yes. Assuming that the caliber is the same. There are variations between different brands of ammo but all of it would be safe to shoot in one rifle.

    Tom, the real differences start by what is before or after the 300 designation. There are many 300 magnums(wildcats included) but all are .30 caliber. A 300 Winchester magnum has different case dimensions than a 300 H&H magnum but both shoot the same bullet. The major difference between all the 300 magnums will be the case dimensions and the velocities that they produce. Kinda like cars, ford and chevrolet look different and may even be different sizes but it is the horsepower(powder) that decides how fast they will go. However, all .300 Winchester magnum ammo and all 300 H&H magnum ammo will be produced to the same limits (by the diefferent manufacturers) set by SAMI. This body sets the standards that govern the maximum and minimum specifications for each cartridge manufactured in the U.S.. This is a brief answer but there are more envolved answers but there is not room here for that kind of detail.
