Go to the Market and get your self a copper POT Scruber, rap some around a brush and after about 6 pases, all lead will be gone.

    Hi KC,

I have been shooting only lead bullets in my pistols for over 15 years.

It is mostly when I try a new mix that leading occurs in my pistols, otherwise, I have the formula down to avoid leading.

The type of leading you describe could be classified as heavy leading and as such an aggressive physical removal of the lead is probably in order. Otherwise, it could take days of scrubbing with a bronze or SS tornado brush and lots of slow acting solvent.

I have spent days brushing and applying solvent to remove stubborn lead deposits. The best and most effective system I have found to remove lead deposits like you describe is Hoppe's Lead Remover Brass Patches. See the link.

These work extremely fast and aggressively cut the lead out of the barrel without damage to the interior of the bore. Cleanup takes no more than 5 minutes. The last time I used them was on my Kimber Gold Match with polished bore. The lead came out in small cuttings with no scratches or damage to the bore.

For the type of leading you describe, I would strongly recommend this product.

    Regards,

My question would be how is he getting the leading. Is he casting his own using a too soft an alloy//maybe swaged bullets driven too fast.
I shoot either cast or swaged in all my handgun rounds but at a velocity to avoid leading.Would rather spend time shooting lead than removing it.

Try a 50/50 mix of Hydrogen Peroxide and White vinegar. That will get the lead out after about 15 min soaking, but make sure to clean and dry well after as it will also rust.

    Thanks for the replies.
I havent found the brass patches, electronic cleaner or Lead Away locally--Ill keep looking or order online. Ill try pot scrubber tomorrow.

Dg101-I dont reload yet, all ammo I shoot is factory, jacketed.
My last shooting session I was using up about 300 rds of some cheap stuff that I hadn't tried before. I think it was "American " brand, the boxes had pictures of a jumble of ammo on them. They were jacketed and brass cased but some of the primers did pop out of the spent rounds and cause jamming.

I wont be using that brand again. I'm really amazed at the ammount of lead in this thing. I havent seen this before
I learn something new every day!

You shouldn't get any leading from jacketed ammo.I've heard that that American ammo is crap?
The "Outers Foul Out 3 Bore Cleaning System" is the name of the elec. bore cleaner and you can get it from www.Midwayusa.com for $74.95 Product #243-419 ,I think they've gone up about $25.00 since I bought mine.[:)]
