    What caliber is it?
Is it a Convertable model? Justr an idea, probably not it, but if it was a convertible maybe you have a 9mm/45ACP cylinder in the gun and are trying to shoot .357/45LC.

This has happened to my Super Blackhawk. There is a small flat spring that holds the loading gate closed. If you can take it apart, depending on your mechanical skills, it is easy to fix. If you don't have the desire to try to fix it or need help find a gunsmith and I bet he has seen this before.

Beagle I don't think that is it he said the case rim is catching to latch and moving it slightly into the open position.

I took an even closer look at it after beagle said it might be the spring. It looks as if the spring loaded tang that helps keep the loading door closed is sticking out further than it should causeing it to rub the case. What can i do to correct this. I really dont want to file it or lose it to the gunsmith for a week can someone give me the lowdown on how to deal with it if possible? Thanks

This happens on my New Models from time to time, especially after disassembly. You should be able to push that flat tang down with a small screwdriver and push it back under the loading gate, where it belongs.

I have a couple of super blackhawks that have performed perfectly for years and years. About 2 years ago after a cleaning I had the same problem....it took me a while, but I did what 'bigbore45colt' said.

I'm guessing you already have fixed it.
I don't know why it didn't happen to me for 20 years, then it did on one gun, and has not ever since.

    Enjoy !

If we do not hang together,
We will most certainly hang separately.

I have a .44 Mag. with probably 2500 rds, run thru. And I mean rds.! Have had no problems. It's probably 15 years old and a great shooter. Still pushes them out @ almost 1400 FPS. I think this Ruger is probably one of the best made firearms around. I hope the other shoe doesn't drop on me! Stay Safe...........................
