45 colt

I've seen a few different things on this. Is 45 colt different from 45 long colt? Some sites have those listed in different sections some don't. Also what about 45 Schofield. Any information on this would help.

    Hi, I have a colt 45 auto and on one side of slide there is japan stamped on it. It looks like it was rather poorly stamped. is this a copy or somthing done after war ?

    If you don't have the means to post a photo, at least post the maker's name, the serial # of the gun, and any comments you can concerning the general condition of the gun. There are a lot of awfully knowledgeable and helpful folks on this forum and with that, they can at least give you a general idea of the firearm's worth.

    Sorry about your Dad's passing.
    The .45 should be worth at least $500, likely quite a bit more. Some bring in the $1,500 and higher range. Post lots more details including the condition and I'm sure someone on this board can help you with a ballpark figure. Look at the auction sites for similar ones that have sold. Good luck to you and if there is any way YOU could keep the pistol, years from now you'll be glad you did.

    I found out some information about the pistol..these are the things stamped on the gun: Patented April 20,1897--Sept 9,1902--Dec 19, 1905--Feb 14, 1911--Aug 19, 1913 Colt Automatic Calibre 45
    Colt PT. F.A. MFG. Co Hartford, CT. USA
    Government Model C114811
    I would say this pistol is in fair/good condition(however I don't know anything about guns). It supposedly was used by my dad's old friend when he was in the war. It certainly has been used versus sitting on a shelf. It has wood on the grip which has been worn. Anyway, that's it in a nut shell. Mom just wants to get some idea about the worth although she is going to keep it. Thanks for the interest.

    Hello with the C as first digit of serial this pistol was sold to the civ market not an army issue. It was madein 1919. It needs to have a hands on at least pictures to give the true value but if it has all correct parts it could be low of $700.00 to high of $1500.00 plus
