What does the "CB" stand for in 22 CB ammo?

    Chris,
    I believe it stems from the term conical bullet cap. In the 1840s Flobert made the first practical self contained cartridge by inserting a bullet in a percussion cap and coined the term for it.

    Around here we call them "cat busters" or "city bullets."

    It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

    BB Caps= Breech Bullet Caps (I think)
    CB Caps= Conical Ball Caps

    v35 told you correctly "Conical Bullet Cap". You can confirm this by getting a copy of Cartridges of the World.
