whats a 7mm08? Are they better than just a normal 7mm?

I'm thinking of a browning 7mm08 a-bolt with the boss barrel,would this be a good deer gun in a 140 grain bullet? also what kind of recoil should I expect? how does the boss barrel help? Is anybody out there useing this setup,or should I look for something else,I sure could use some help.Thank- You fellow sportsmen&women.Dano. 0 -
7mm08 is an outstanding deer cartridge, A Boss system is unnecessary for this chambering but that is up to you, recoil especialy with the Boss should be very little. 0 -
ditto with HB the recoil would be near nil and you'd have a tack driver with the boss system 0 -
the 7/08 is an excellent deer round. The Brownings are great rifles, everyone Ive sold to customers at our shop has been an accurate and good all around rifle. However I would save the extra 100 dollars it costs and go without the 'Boss" .Just about everyone who gets one with a Boss comes back and buys the blank adaptor for it. The complaint is always 'too much noise".
Muzzle brakes are very noisy ,the blank adaptor does away with the problem. The 7/08 doesnt kick enough to bother and the rifle will have more than adequate accuracy without the Boss.0 -
Uncledano I agree with D.S.Cole, but must say that the BOSS is capable of turning any rifle into an incredibly accurate rifle. For instance I have a BOSS on my .338 the BOSS really tames the recoil but the first time I shot it in the field with no ear protection on I thought I was gonna die, it was way too loud. So I bought the blank adapter for the BOSS and the kick was dramatically increased but I was still able to use the BOSS adjustments and turn in a 3 shot group at 100 yards using factory ammo (225 grain Federals) that was .6" measured outside to outside ( thats a .26" group! ). Your 7mm-08 should be pretty easy on recoil but if you want the BOSS for the accuracy I do recommend it. 0
