I have a gun handed down from my Father who is deceased. All I know of it is that is was handed down a few generations. I am new to guns and do not know much abotu them. I would like to know exactly when this gun was made adn where it was purchased. Can you track a gun like that? Here is the information off the barrell: "Hopkins & Allen Arms Co. Norwich Conn USA, No.822, .22 Long Rifle". I would greatly appreciate any help tha tyou can give me. Thank you for your time.

    Your #822 rifle was first made very close to the turn of the century. In 90% condition it's worth about $175. Of course it's worth much more than that to you.

    Little chance you will be able to find where it was purchased.
