This old gun?
OK. I thought I would try to an estimate of this gun and possibly some history. It is a Winchester 30-30, model 1894, octagon barrel, nickel steel barrel, serial # 822164, it also says 30WCF on it. It has been in the family for years and years. Any information will be a big help. Thanks.

BertH can help, but you need to give a very good description of the condition of the rifle. Like they say on Antiques Roadshow, condition is much of the value, and if Granddad re-blued it the value drops markedly. 0 -
Just a few things before Bert gets here: your 1894 was made in or around 1918; unless it's a short rifle, the barrel should be 26 in. long. Now what's missing: is the magazine full, 3/4, 2/3, or end at the end of the forearm? (commonly called a "button" magazine) You need to describe the sights, type of buttplate, checkered butt or non, straight or pistol grip buttstock and % of finish remaining, condition of the bore, condition of all visible screwheads, percentage of original blue remaining, to name a few. Best thing is to post pictures of all the above areas, and then you'll be able to get a fairly accurate estimate of the rifle's value. -Asa 0 -

I will have to make a trip to grandpas and take a picture. It has never been reblued. He bought it used when he was like 20, when hunting once and put it over the mantle. It is in good shape because it really has not been used. Last time the crazy old man had it out he was shooting big pine cones out of a pine tree. When I get more infoo I will post again. Ant rough idea of the value. Its priceless to me but it would be intresting to know.0 -
Darn.... I though the title was the name to a new TV show. "This Old Gun" A program about the refurbishing of old damaged firearms. What a letdown. 0
